The Maestro brand was founded by luthier Ho Zen Yong – known simply
as “Hozen” – with the vision of offering high quality boutique acoustic
instruments for the best possible value. Since then, Maestro Guitars has
evolved into one of the leading makers of premium guitars and ukuleles in the
world. Hozen’s lifelong commitment to making fine, hand-crafted instruments
more accessible began at a young age. His family were the first piano builders
in Singapore. Hungry to bring Maestro guitars to the next level, Hozen studied
under renowned luthier Ervin Somogyi and underwent PLEK training with the
legendary Joe Glaser, who was also instrumental in developing the team’s eye
for detail.
Every Maestro exudes a commitment to making fine boutique
instruments more accessible. Handmade by a small team of experienced luthiers,
all Maestro instruments are built from hand-selected tone woods and
individually voiced by Hozen, ensuring that each is exceptional in terms of
tone and craftsmanship.
RESPONSIVE
WITH FOCUSED FUNDAMENTALS
Inspired
by the iconic guitars of the past, the Traditional Series is voiced to ensure
that they are responsive and projects rich tone with greater focus on the
fundamentals – a once inimitable tonal character of these instruments from the
golden years, bringing inspiration and nostalgia in every single strum.
ICONIC
DESIGN, MODERN APPOINTMENTS
Bridging the old and the new, these guitars present a
vintage vibe with modern appointments. Available in both solid square headstock
and slotted headstock accompanied by fine details of Herringbone purfling and
Abalone inlays, they are furnished with Carbon Fiber Reinforced necks and
Reversed Kerfing – weaving tradition with innovation.
Inspired by the great guitars of the
yesteryears, the Traditional Series was born out of Hozen’s desire to build
“period correct” instruments. Available in 5 shapes and various iconic wood
combinations, each piece is handvoiced to possess rich fundamentals, clear
projection, and graceful response down to the very last note. From the compact
Parlor to the iconic Slope Shoulder Dreadnought, these guitars bring nostalgia
and inspiration to today’s players.
INDIVIDUALLY HANDVOICED
Though bracing patterns affect the tonal
characteristics of an acoustic guitar, there is no formulaic way of
guaranteeing the best tone. Every piece of wood is different that is why we
take time to individually voice every Traditional Series guitar to deliver an
instrument that has a very delicate response, rich in projection, and full of
character.

HANDSELECTED TONEWOODS
We source for the best tonewoods all over the world
and naturally season them for years to ensure that they are responsive and have
the ideal moisture content. Featuring iconic pairings of the past, the wood
that we use for the Traditional Series are handselected based on how fast the sound
travels across the board, richness of tap tones, deflection, and woodgrain.
