The Maestro brand was founded by luthier Ho Zen Yong – known
simply as “Hozen” – with the vision of offering high quality boutique acoustic
instruments for the best possible value. Since then, Maestro Guitars has
evolved into one of the leading makers of premium guitars and ukuleles in the
world. Hozen’s lifelong commitment to making fine, hand-crafted instruments
more accessible began at a young age. His family were the first piano builders
in Singapore. Hungry to bring Maestro guitars to the next level, Hozen studied
under renowned luthier Ervin Somogyi and underwent PLEK training with the
legendary Joe Glaser, who was also instrumental in developing the team’s eye
for detail.
All
their instruments are handmade in a humidity-controlled facility in limited
quantities using age-proven techniques. The tonewoods we use are kept and
seasoned naturally to achieve the right moisture content and are hand-selected
based on its responsiveness, stability, and aesthetic value. Bridging tradition
and innovation, our instruments feature Carbon Fiber Reinforced necks and are
PLEK Setup. Their instruments are first of its kind to have boutique features such
as Soundport, Beveled Armrest, Double Top soundboards, and Double Sides
available off-the-rack.
Every
Maestro exudes a commitment to making fine boutique instruments more
accessible. Handmade by a small team of experienced luthiers, all Maestro
instruments are built from hand-selected tone woods and individually voiced by
Hozen, ensuring that each is exceptional in terms of tone and craftsmanship

INDIVIDUALLY HANDVOICED
Though bracing patterns affect the
tonal characteristics of an acoustic guitar, there is no formulaic way of
guaranteeing the best tone. Every piece of wood is different that is why
Maestro takes time to individually voice every Original Series guitar to
deliver an instrument that has a very delicate response, rich in projection,
and full of character.
RESPONSIVE WITH GREATER FOCUS ON COMPLEX OVERTONES
In addition to the signature responsiveness of Maestro’s
instruments, the Original Series guitars are specially voiced to possess
complex overtones without compromising the richness of the fundamentals –
resulting to a guitar that is inspiring to play especially for fingerstyle
enthusiasts.
HANDSELECTED TONEWOODS
Maestro searches for the best tonewoods
all over the world and naturally season them for years to ensure that they are
responsive and have the ideal moisture content. The wood that Maestro use for
the Original Series are handselected based on how fast the sound travels across
the board, richness of tap tones, deflection, and woodgrain.
