This special edition
guitar is based on Jean Larrivee's innovative "X-Brace" design. Jean
blended a non-symmetrical scalloped lateral cross-bracing pattern with the
standard X-Brace to offer maximum strength with minimal material usage. This
unique build allows for even greater soundboard vibration, while maintaining a
controlled bass response.
The 40 Series is crafted in America using all solid wood, the OO-40
boasts a 12-Fret Mahogany neck, bone bridge pins, nut and saddle, diamond
fingerboard dots, and 18:1 open back tuners. The stunning Koa on the back and
sides, sourced from Jean's private stash, gives the guitar a beautiful finish.
Koa, a Hawaiian
tonewood, is highly prized for its warm and balanced tone, clear top end, and
strong midrange. Its density and stiffness result in quick attack and excellent
sustain, making it an ideal choice for fingerstyle playing. The
more a koa guitar is played, the more the sound opens up, expanding the
midrange and rewarding the player with a richer, sweeter, more resonant tone.
