The Black Mountain Slide Ring features a stainless steel playing surface and an innovative spring-loaded design that lets you switch between slide guitar and traditional fretted playing without removing the slide.
PLAY SLIDE OR FRETTED GUITAR — WITHOUT TAKING IT OFF
A traditional tube-style slide covers the fingertip and can interfere with fretting. The Black Mountain Slide Ring is designed to sit on the middle segment of your middle finger, leaving your fingertip completely free.
The spring-loaded arm holds the ring securely against your finger, allowing you to:
- Play chords, scales and bars normally
- Quickly bring the slide to the strings when needed
- Switch between slide and fretted playing on the fly
- Keep all four fingertips available for regular guitar playing

The Black Mountain Slide Ring was invented by full-time guitar teacher Cole McBride. Its patent-pending design was created to give guitarists a convenient way to incorporate slide playing without constantly removing and replacing a traditional slide.
HOW TO WEAR THE SLIDE RING
The Slide Ring is designed to be worn on the middle segment of your middle finger.
The spring-loaded arm clamps your finger between the arm and the metal ring, helping keep the slide secure while allowing you to use your fingertip normally.
HOW TO PLAY SLIDE
When playing slide, gently float the stainless steel playing surface over the strings above the frets. Avoid pressing down too hard.
Tip: If you hear the slide clicking against the frets, you're applying too much pressure. A lighter touch will produce a smoother sound.
HOW TO GET A CLEAN SLIDE SOUND
For a cleaner slide tone, use your index finger to mute the strings behind the slide. This helps eliminate unwanted string noise and creates a cleaner, more controlled sound.
HOW TO GET A RAGGEDY SLIDE SOUND
For a more raw or raggedy slide sound, leave the strings behind the slide unmuted. This allows additional string noise and overtones to become part of the sound.
SIZING
The spring-loaded arm provides a universal, adjustable fit, so you don't need to have an exact finger measurement for the Slide Ring to stay securely in place.
The plastic arm conforms to the size of your finger for a comfortable and stable fit.
If you would like to measure your finger before ordering, follow these steps:
- Wrap a piece of string, thread or dental floss around the middle segment of your middle finger.
- Stretch the material out and measure its length. This measurement is your finger circumference.
- Use the sizing guide below to select the appropriate size.
